It has bee aptly said:"all of Zhangjiajie's mountains and rivers belog to the TuJia peple. The total population of Zhangjiajie is 1570000,and the Tujias represent  two-thirds of than number. In this distrie ,the Han people is a "minority".

       The ethnic droup known as Tujia is old in terms of years bue young in terms of official history .It was not formally registered as an independent ethnic group by the Department of the United Front of the Chinese Communist Party, acting on behalf of the Chinese Ommunist Partty until Juanuary 3,1957. The Tujia minority has inhabited tis ergion for over 2000 years.They ar descendants of the Sichuan eople who lived before the says of the Qin Dynasty.
 
       Accordong to 2000 statistics,the total populatin of Tujias is six million ,and than makes it the it the severth largest ethnic group among the 55 minorities in China.Most live in hunan,hubei,Chongqing and Guizhou.In hunan province,the total population of Tujia people is 2.2million.
 
      This ethnic group is mainly engaged in agriculture,and the tung oil trees and tea-oil trees are thd most importan cash crops.In the past ,most of the people liver in Ganlan style houses.These fols are also skillful at brocade, embroidery and cross-setitching;all of these techniques show a high leel of artistry,especialy Xi lan Ka Pu,a kind of handmade embroidery ,whice is quit well known.What's more the Tujia folk songs,Daliuzi game and Hand-waving Dance,are alvery fascingating and enjoyable.
