Clothing and Costume
Accordeing to local chroinles,the Tujia people-both men and women ,wear a shore uper garment and no shoes,They cover their head with a cloth and ten to dya their clothes n averirty of colors. Fornerly, the TUjia minority wore handmade clothing which was dyed blue and black.
Their clothing style is characterized by the notion:"Same in trouers but distinct in the uper garment." for example,no matter men or women, Tujia people wear almost the same trousers-akind of skirt with colorful trim,whic in the late years has been changed into a kind of pants with two or three colorful stripes adorning the trouese legs.The top part of Tujia dress is quite different for men and woen,and also for the young and ld,however,Usually a young man will wear a short jacket with many cloth buttons down the front. A young woman prefers a special top with buttons down the left side,lareg,short sleeves and a low cut collar.
For their part, the elderly like to dress in a more bulky uper garment with buttons down the front.Three colorful stripes cnabe found along the edges of each uper garment.
